Despite Popular Belief on Heath Ledger’s Death, MMA Icon and Co-Star Michael Jai White Debunked the Myth Surrounding Hollywood Star’s “Dark Character”- “It Drives Me Up a Wall”

The late Hollywood star Heath Ledger started taking up acting gigs right from the tender age of 10. Over time, the Australian native became one of the most famed faces of Hollywood with noteworthy movies like ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and ‘The Patriot. However, a large chunk of fans might agree that nothing in Ledger’s career compares to his iconic portrayal of ‘The Dark Knight’ antagonist, ‘Joker’.

Ledger’s close ones have often gone on record to describe him as an easygoing and considerate personality, despite multiple sources stating otherwise. Recently, Michael Jai White, a famous Hollywood star and also one of Ledger’s co-stars in ‘The Dark Knight’, debunked those myths. In an episode of ‘Collider Podcasts’, Jai White, gave out his take on the “playful” character of his co-actor, Ledger.

Most in the MMA world might know about the myths surrounding Ledger, stating that he had a rather mysterious character even in his real life. A number of reports also say that this dark character was further invoked in him after he starred as the antagonist, ‘Joker’, of the noted movie, ‘The Dark Knight’.

The ‘Collider Podcasts’ host touched upon this point to begin the discussion about the late co-star of Michael Jai White. She questioned him how the ‘Joker’ from ‘The Dark Knight’ actually was in real life.

The ‘Universal Soldier’ actor revealed his stern disagreement with the ‘dark character’ narrative propagated about Ledger. He stated, That drives me up a wall. Because people wanna write that story like that dark character consumed him.”

He also said, That’s people’s imagination”. After revealing one specific instance from the sets of ‘The Dark Knight’, Jai White disclosed, You could see his playful character”.

This revelation from the ‘Undisputed II’ actor might come as a shock to a number of ‘Batman’ lovers. They had probably known Ledger to possess the dark character even in his real life as he played in ‘Joker’.

Jai White also narrated one more incident to make everyone realize the considerate facet of Ledger’s character. He disclosed that the weird tone that ‘Joker’ uses while speaking was approved by him as well before Ledger finalized to use it.

He revealed, He would do a voice modulation, and one of the times when we were face to face…”, Jai White imitated the “growly voice”, Ledger had thought of using while playing ‘Joker’. He also revealed Ledger’s considerate nature, stating that he had also asked for White’s opinion before finalizing the tone for Joker.

‘The martial artist-actor’ quoted Ledger, stating, “He asked me what do I think?”. The martial artist-actor also expressed his amazement at this stating,My God, this dude’s asking me?, I mean that doesn’t usually happen.”

Jai White further stated that it was a rare occurrence on the sets of a movie. Fans might get an idea from this incident that all those rumors about Ledger’s dark character were nothing but a massively propagated myth.
