Ever since then, ‘The Eagle’ is working to put his very own MMA promotion on the world’s map. Interestingly, the promotion has gained much attention from the fight fans thanks to Nurmagomedov’s hard work and stardom.

Hence, the promotion will hold Eagle FC 44 event in Miami on 28th January. Ahead of the event, Eagle FC had its first-ever press conference on American soil, where Nurmagomedov talked about his future plans and signings.

During the conference, one of the reporters asked ‘The Eagle’ if he will have a title similar to the UFC BMF belt. The UFC commissioned this title especially for a fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz at UFC 244.

However, the Dagestan native seemed disinterested in the idea. Instead, he had some other plans. Nurmagomedov said, “Don’t make sense, you know. I don’t think about this.”

He added, “I don’t think we gonna have like this. But who knows? You know, like maybe for humble fighters. Maybe Kevin Lee wanna fight for this belt. Who knows, we will see.”

The former UFC lightweight champion is also the promoter of Eagle FC. He has made many big signings, including Kevin Lee, Rashad Evans, Ray Borg, Renan Barao, and Cody Gibson.

Khabib Nurmagomedov also plans to sign the former UFC heavyweight champion and legend Junior dos Santos in the future. However, ‘The Eagle’ will not sign long-time friend and teammate, Islam Makhachev in Eagle FC. And has a reason for it.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Will Never Sign Islam Makhachev for Eagle FC

‘The Eagle’ and Islam Makhachev are childhood friends. Both the lightweight combatants used to train under Khabib’s father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

However, after Abdulmanap passed away, ‘The Eagle’ retired from the sport. Ever since then, Makhachev has been following Khabib’s footsteps in the lightweight division. Not only that, but the former champion is also coaching Makhachev for his UFC career.

However, when asked if he will sign Makhachev in Eagle FC, Nurmagomedov instantly denied it. As Makhachev has a different mission and ‘The Eagle’ also wants him to become the UFC champion. In an interview with ESPN MMA, Nurmagomedov said, “No, no, no, Islam have different mission, you know.”

Nevertheless, Nurmagomedov has already made some good signings for his promotion. Also, fans might see some more big names join Eagle FC in the future and it won’t be long before Eagle FC becomes one of the major MMA leagues in the world.
