Dustin Poirier keeping his hopes up to face Conor McGregor again
The Diamond had a fantastic run in 2021 with two back-to-back knockout wins over McGregor. But sadly, he failed to close out the year with a title win, as he dropped his possible last chance to capture the UFC gold against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.
Following the title loss, he has been gunning to face prospects that excite him the most, and ‘Notorious’ is on top of his list.

A move to welterweight is definitely on the table
However, despite his best attempts to book his next major fight, it looks like the promotion is keeping him on hold. According to a recent report from Mirror, the former title challenger has made it clear that he doesn’t wish to continue in the 155 lbs division. Ahead of his fight in 2022, he shed light on his thoughts about his future and what he would like to do next.

“I’m not sure (who I could face at welterweight), we’ll see. Like we just said, getting my hand raised Saturday night, I’m gonna stay here at 55 and fight again,” he continued, “I don’t know when that move to welterweight will be. But I’m pretty sure, I would say I’m 90 percent sure that before everything is said and done, that I will fight at 170 pounds in the UFC.”
