Tristar MMA’s Head Coach, Firas Zahabi, spoke out on his podcast platform and shared his views on Khamzat Chimaev. Chiefly, Zahabi went on to predict if ‘Borz’ Chimaev had a viable chance at welterweight championship gold against Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ comes in as one of the best P4P fighters on the planet, and he’s been utterly dominant.

Like most others, Firas Zahabi is extremely high on Khamzat Chimaev’s hype train based on his performances thus far. The Swedish-Russian fighter has captured the attention of the MMA world with his emphatic wrestling and dynamic one-punch KO power. Hence, it’s simply a matter of time before he is listed in a big-time bout that could project him to a title shot.

In fact, Chimaev was supposed to fight the number three ranked welterweight Leon Edwards on three separate occasions. However, COVID-19  played its role in canceling the bout and Chimaev has been put on the shelf. However, upon making a recovery, he’ll be back to fighting the very best on offer and could challenge Kamaru Usman.

“I don’t know, it’s a very tough one. I’m still, Khamzat has impressed me very much, I would love to see him do a three-rounder so we can see a lot more of him. I’ve seen him in person, he’s so tall, he looks like a freak athlete, tall, lanky, you see his explosiveness in the octagon, you see how hard he hits. He’s a tremendous contender. Sooner or later, he’s going to be world champion. Will it be against Usman? I don’t know.”
