‘I’d Touch You Up at Any Weight’- Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz Agree to Fight at Middleweight

Fan-favorite UFC welterweight Nate Diaz took to social media and called out one of the biggest names in the sport right now. Diaz fired shots at Dustin Poirier who is fresh off a TKO win over Dustin Poirier. In fact, Poirier has stopped McGregor with strikes twice in the span of 7 months, a feat not replicated by anyone else.

Chiefly, Nate Diaz wouldn’t mind swooping in on Poirier’s newfound cache as a star and is looking for a fight. Both men were supposed to face each other at UFC 230 in Madison Square Garden, however, the fight fell through. Diaz made it known that he wants to fight at middleweight and Poirier responded in typical fashion for ‘The Diamond’

It’s unclear why Nate Diaz is seeking a fight against Poirier at middleweight considering that he’s established himself as a welterweight. However, Poirier is a massive lightweight, and he reportedly walks around at 190-pounds when not in training camp. Fans immediately got hyped when Diaz’s call-out made the round and he followed it up with another post.

Nate Diaz vs Dustin Poirier: An Overview

Diaz is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards in what was the first five-round non-title/non-main event fight. Nate Diaz was largely dominated throughout the contest, however, he managed to steal the show in the final 60 seconds.

He unloaded on Leon Edwards and staggered him on the feet. ‘Rocky’ was visibly compromised and fans speculated that Diaz could’ve finished him if he had time on the clock. Despite losing, Nate Diaz’s stock somehow managed to rise and he continued to be a massive star.

As for Poirier, he’s 12-2 in his last 14 fights and has looked largely invincible in the eyes of fans. Many believe that he’s unofficially the best lightweight fighter on the planet even though he’s not the current undisputed champion.

Poirier’s rise in the UFC has been astronomical and fans his ceiling seems largely unmatched going forward. One clean glance at his resume will reaffirm the fact that ‘The Diamond’ has endured a lot of pressure to reach this point in his career.
