UFC Vegas 89 delivered some incredible finishes. From prospects like Edmen Shahbazyan making a return with an impressive 3rd round KO, to bantamweight prospect, Payton Talbott extending his undefeated streak with an outstanding 2nd round KO. However, the Vegas event did end up with one of the most bizarre DQs for the promotion with Igor Severino being handed a DQ loss against Andre Lima in the second round for biting him.

This led to Severino getting cut from the promotion, even reportedly having his fight purse withheld from the promotion. Severino would recently talk to MMA Junkie talking about all the consequences he was facing after the incident, pleading to Dana White and the UFC for a second chance in the promotion. Igor Severino after the alleged incident, claimed to have had quite a rough few days. He said that he was regretful of what had happened during the fight and was saddened that he was let go of the promotion for his actions. Given that he had worked all his life to reach the pinnacle of the sport and threw it all away in the first fight, he felt that he had not only disappointed himself but also the people. And unfortunately, he wasn’t the only one facing the consequences of his actions.

During the interview with MMA Junkie, Severino explained how important the fight was to him and his family. He stated, “I’m not sure what they’re even going to decide because this money isn’t even for me. It’s for my whole family that depends on me. Fighting is how I make ends meet, how I’m able to pay my rent. That’s how I’m able to pay for medicine. It’s how I’m able to take care of my sick family members, how I can support them to buy food, as well. That’s all that I know how to do. It’s all that I have to make a means to live.”

This wasn’t all as Severino would go on to explain how his family was facing the consequences for his action. “They have been going after my loved ones. They’re disrespecting them. There have been death threats. “, said Severino with a heavy heart. The Brazillian requested the fans and people to stop going after his family as they had nothing to do with how the fight ended.

Igor Severino pleaded with the UFC and Dana White to grant him another chance at redemption and for an opportunity to right his wrongs. However, would the UFC CEO consider giving his whole reaction to the incident?

Dana White’s reaction to the DQ at UFC Vegas 89

Dana White didn’t take long to take action against Igor Severino after his fight against Andre Lima. the 54-year-old was just as furious as fans with the 20-year-old biting his opponent and texted keviniole.com about how he would handle the situation.

In the text message, White wrote, “Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters. If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing you can do is bite your opponent. Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC.”
