Colby Covington wants to be a triple champ
Colby Covington recently sat down in a press conference where he essentially called out multiple champions of the UFC. As unafraid as ever, Covington claimed that fighting Sean Strickland would be rather easy for him. Why? In his own words, it’s perhaps, the
“easiest” fight. “I want to go for that triple championship and you know I think I could do it,” Covington told the press. “You know, I think I can make 55 and I think I can go up to 85 and that’s the easiest fight if Sean Strickland’s still there. So I may look to go you know beat Sean first and then go down to 55 and beat that Mongloid.”“But you know I have unfinished business at 170 and the only way to make this division great again is to be active and to clear out the division first so until I do that, I’m not going to entertain anybody else.” Clearly, while other belts aren’t safe from Covington, the welterweight title is the one that he wants to most. Will he be able to snatch it away from Leon Edwards’ hands? There are speculations and fans are always siding with the fighter they love most. Edwards calm and collected persona clashes with that of Covington’s on every level possible. Even when it comes to their styles, Covington’s cardio could prove hyper against Edwards’ focused strikes. So what does the champ have to say about his opponent?
Leon Edwards about Colby Covington
Covington has received his own fair share of verbal thrashing from Leon Edwards. Of course, there are differences in how insults are thrown around. While Covington openly calls fighters names like he just did to Islam Makhachev, Edwards slyly makes fun of Covington’s character as if he barely considers it.
Edwards has previously shown his wish to make Covington go quite. In a recent interview he couldn’t even wait to go in and “shut him up” since he’s such a big talker. Clearly his verbal spats have done little to deter the champion. Will Covington be able to bite the title away? Let us know your thoughts.
