Jairzinho Rozenstruik dropped a decision against Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs Gane. ‘Bon Gamin’ outfoxed ‘Bigi Boy’ for the whole 5 rounds as the former controlled the distance and kept touching his opponent from the outside.

Rozenstruik suffered his second loss as a professional in MMA; Gane is still undefeated. ‘Bon Gamin’ has shown signs quality to suggest that he belongs with the elites of the division and is knocking on the door for a big fight next.

The Surinamese fighter acknowledged the quality of the Frenchman immediately after the fight as he took to social media to express his appreciation towards his opponent.

He wrote, “Respect to (Ciryl Gane). As said, you are a phenomenal fighter.”

Gane really proved his mettle in this fight with his outstanding movement and speed inside the Octagon. Rozenstruik was totally nullified in the main event and couldn’t use his biggest strength, i.e. his punching power.

However, one might argue that Rozenstruik’s own decision-making let him down more than anything else. He hesitated to put pressure on Gane and test his defense, which ultimately led to him losing the fight.

‘Bigi Boy’ should have applied more pressure on his opponent to unsettle and unbalance him. In retrospect, this may have given him some room to tee off and test ‘Bon Gamin’s’ chin.

What’s next for Jairzinho Rozenstruik?

Rozenstruik was no.4 in the rankings coming into this fight. Considering how crowded the top half of the heavyweight division is, it is expected he will lose his spot. So, he needs to get back on the horse as soon as possible to rekindle himself in the division.

Curtis Blaydes is coming off a loss against Derrick Lewis, and the UFC can very well match those two up. However, it will be a test of Rozenstruik’s wrestling. But much like Lewis, ‘Bigi Boy’ has that one-shot equalizer in the store too.

Unfortunately, he didn’t use it against Gane. However, he could take a page out of ‘The Black Beast’s’ book if he were booked against ‘Razor’ who would not have such swift movement.
