It seems like Conor McGregor may not be able to make his return in 2023 after Dana White laid out the fights for the remaining UFC pay-per-views of the year. Meanwhile, Joe Rogan recently weighed in on ‘The Notorious’s return and even changed his earlier opinion about the comment he made in 2022.

Dana White announced three major title fights recently. Those fights are scheduled to take place at UFC 295 and UFC 296, which includes some of the biggest stars on the roster, except for Conor McGregor. Similarly, Joe Rogan discussed the talk UFC had for his initial plan for a comeback. Let’s see what he had to say.

During the recent episode of the JRE podcast, the UFC color commentator mentioned how the initial plan for McGregor’s return was against Michael Chandler. This was supposed to happen after the culmination of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’. Joe Rogan said, “It’s been two years [since McGregor’s last fight]… and there’s all this talk about him and Michael Chandler fighter from ‘The Ultimate Fighter.'”

Furthermore, Rogan also mentioned that he’s aware that Conor McGregor is actively training to return. He’s witnessed the Irishman’s video clips and claims that he’s looking good, although Rogan believes that McGregor looked to be a bit on steroids. “I know he’s sparring. I have seen footage of him sparring and he looks good. He looks really good. But he also looks saucy,” said the JRE host. He even laid out the process of his eventual return as well.

Rogan explains the process of McGregor’s return

Late last year, Joe Rogan commented that Conor’s McGregor new jacked physique looked like he was on a lot of steroids. He even went on to claim that his urine could melt the cup that USADA uses for examination. However, this time the 56-year-old did not mention anything regarding his earlier comments at all. Instead, he mentioned how the former double champion would have to get rid of those substances from his system to get into the USADA’s testing pool.

Joe Rogan further said, “You’ve got to get off that, and then there’s a six-month period where USADA has to test him randomly.
Apart from that, he also shed light on how gruesome Conor McGregor’s injury was. But Rogan firmly believes that the Irishman is the only person who can make a comeback from that kind of predicament. It would be a great comeback story. “I just think that if anybody can do it, it’s Conor. If anybody is going to come back and fight again, it’s gonna be Conor,” the 56-year-old added.
