For those who do not know, ‘The Eagle’s birthday is on 20 September, while Thomson’s birthday is on 21 September. As the two fighters grapple, Jones can be seen carefully observing Nurmagomedov.

The origins of the video

The video is from September 22, 2013, at UFC 165. Jones was facing Alexander Gustafsson at the main event of the night. Nurmagomedov was also fighting in the PPV, facing Pat Healy. Both the fighters ended up winning the fight.

Fast forward 10 years and life has taken different routes for the Dagestani and ‘Bones’. Khabib retired in 2020 and left the sport on top of the world. He was the undefeated lightweight champion and was widely recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. His retirement was a shock to many fans, but it was clear that he wanted to go out on top and focus on other aspects of his life.
