Emirati star Khamzat Chimaev recently returned to action after one year of inactivity. However, he racked up another injury after the fight. But that was not the end of his problems. Chimaev’s current health status has taken a turn for the worse, which was apparent in the recent pictures that he shared on social media.
‘Borz’ returned to action at UFC 294 in a middleweight bout against Kamaru Usman. He won the fight via majority decision but injured his hand in the process. Now, new reports have emerged about his dire health status on social media. Let’s take a look at that front.
Khamzat Chimaev is suffering from a hand injury and a skin infection

Many people were counting on Khamzat Chimaev to become a UFC champion in 2024 after he returned to action at UFC 294. However, his hand injury forced him to take time out from fighting once again. Chimaev has since taken the time to heal his hand, but recently he shared a few pictures on Twitter (X) in a now-deleted tweet, where he looked to be in a serious condition.
The pictures shared by the Emirati fighter showed him appearing very sick. Moreover, he had a swollen face, rashes on his skin, reddened eyes, and even rested on a hospital bed with an oxygen mask on his face, showing his injured arm as well.

“I was very sick, my hand was injured, so I couldn’t return right away, I want to tell all the fountains, I want to see myself in battle more than all of you, I love this job, I will do and prove that I am the best, as always we do, and I will be back soon to Insha’Allal training,” said Khamzat Chimaev. While he’s healing from his current situation, the undefeated star once almost retired from fighting. Let’s see what that was all about.
‘Borz’ once considered hanging up his gloves
A couple of years ago, Khamzat Chimaev was slated to fight Leon Edwards as he gained momentum with his UFC wins. However, the fight was canceled twice, primarily due to the Emirati fighter suffering from COVID-19 effects. He was having a hard time dealing with that situation and was discouraged by it. That prompted Chimaev to hint that he was considering retiring from MMA altogether.

In an Instagram post from 2021, Chimaev thanked all his fans for the support they showed for him. Moreover, he mentioned that he thought he was done fighting, even though he had not fought for the belt. But later on, Chimaev revealed that he took that decision due to his distressing emotions.

While Khamzat Chimaev shared a few pictures of his predicament, he did not explain his health condition in detail. We will have to wait for more updates on his injuries and skin condition as it remains to be seen when ‘Borz’ will make his return, given that he is eying a comeback at UFC 300.
