Apart from Joe Rogan and Sean O’Malley, many other UFC fighters have voiced their opinion about the imprisonment of Brittney Griner by the Russian authorities. However, none have topped the attention caught by the ‘Fast & Furious’ star, Vin Diesel. Sodiq Yusuff recently shared a post on Twitter that showed Diesel’s deleted post; demanding the Russian government free the WNBA star by Christmas.

They arrested Griner back in February for being in possession of cannabis oil; while on her way to the Russian Premier League. The basketball player was then sentenced to nine years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

The tweet was indeed a repost of ‘Fast & Furious’ star, Vin Diesel, standing up for the release of Griner from the Russian prison. The caption in the post by the Hollywood sensation read, “I need Brittney Griner home before Christmas.” Later, the famed actor took down the post from his social media. Sadly, it was too late to prevent it from becoming meme material.

Joe Rogan with ‘The Stranger Things’ reference

In the JRE MMA Show, episode #133, the beloved UFC commentator and podcaster talked about Griner’s penalty with his guest, Sean O’Malley. Furthermore, the two were taken aback by the Russian judiciary penalizing an athlete for cannabis use. However, they didn’t back down from making a pop-culture reference.

Rogan said, “They’ll f**king move you to Siberia and you’ll live in prison in Siberia. Like on Stranger Things, remember? When the dude gets arrested in Russia?” Furthermore, the commentator and the fighter conversed about the legalization of cannabis and similar substances.

Nonetheless, the nine-year sentence, in fact, appeared to be a bit too long for the simple possession of cannabis. Previously, Rogan said that the Russians were making an example out of Griner by putting her in jail.
