Costa last entered the octagon against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278 in August 2021. He won the contest via unanimous decision and hasn’t fought since.

In the months that followed, ‘Borrachinha’ got into a rivalry with Khamzat Chimaev. Despite several call-outs to the Chechen, UFC eventually matched Costa against Whittaker. Now, talks of Chimaev and Whittaker facing each other are gaining traction, and Costa has chimed in on the same.

Costa recently appeared in a video for former UFC champion Henry Cejudo‘s YouTube channel. The 31-year-old talked about a potential Whittaker vs. Chimaev matchup and how he thought it would turn out.

He said, “I’m not sure that fight’s going to happen but… Yeah. Just because Chimaev, The Gourmet Chen Chen, he’s avoided fights, the middleweight fights. Middleweight, top elite fighters.”
