Chael Sonnen posted a video in his YouTube channel where he had questioned the reason of delay for the much anticipated bout between Covington and Leon Edwards. He suggested that the match be held during the upcoming UFC 290 event in New York. He even doubted if the evening’s headline event, which would feature Jon Jones, would garner as much attention as the battle between Edwards and Covington.

Would you, to make sure that the usual barrage of fans that sold to Jon Jones fights aren’t dressed as empty seats they get in front of that, Would you pad the card with a massive welterweight fight? Would you bring the best guy you have at doing media to the media capital of the world New York?”
