Since it was announced by UFC President Dana White that Colby Covington would be the next in line to have a crack at the welterweight scrap, the anticipated fight between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards has been the center of attention in the UFC world. It’s unclear exactly when the fight will take place since Edwards’ most recent championship defense against Kamaru Usman took place in March. A UFC legend had something in mind of the anticipated contest and expressed it on his YouTube channel. He unexpectedly had to question the current heavyweight champion Jon Jones through his video.

Chael Sonnen posted a video in his YouTube channel where he had questioned the reason of delay for the much anticipated bout between Covington and Leon Edwards. He suggested that the match be held during the upcoming UFC 290 event in New York. He even doubted if the evening’s headline event, which would feature Jon Jones, would garner as much attention as the battle between Edwards and Covington.

In lights to his thoughts, Sonnen quoted, “Jones in his life has had very few sellouts. Would you, to make sure that the usual barrage of fans that sold to Jon Jones fights aren’t dressed as empty seats they get in front of that, Would you pad the card with a massive welterweight fight? Would you bring the best guy you have at doing media to the media capital of the world New York?”

What Sonnen had to say about ‘Bones’ prominence is clear from the video, especially in light of the UFC 290 main event. Sonnen, backing the bout between Edwards and Covington, reflects his eagerness to witness their encounter.
