Rafael dos Anjos to Fight a Top Contender on Conor McGregor’s Card on July 10

The UFC is preparing for a cosmic event on July 10 at UFC 264, where Conor McGregor will face Dustin Poirier for the third time to settle the scores once and for all. The card looks stacked with fights like Stephen Thompson vs Gilbert Burns, Tai Tuivasa vs Greg Hardy, and more. Now another Lightweight claims to have added his name to the mix. Rafael dos Anjos, the former 155 lbs champion, is claiming that he will be a part of the event as the UFC wants him to fight another top contender from its roster.
Dos Anjos was victorious in his last fight, where he finally dropped back to his former weight class after an unsuccessful run in the Welterweight division.

Dos Anjos tweeted, “Got a call couple days ago to fight a top contender on the division, I said yes, I’m waiting on the other side #ufc #July 10th”.
Who is the mystery opponent for Rafael dos Anjos?
‘RDA’ currently ranks number 7 in the UFC Lightweight ranking. His tweet depicts that he is certainly fighting a top 10 ranked opponent for his next fight. All the fighters in the division are booked to fight except three: Justin Gaethje, Dan Hooker, and Paul Felder. It is highly unlikely he will fight Paul Felder, as he had already defeated him in the last fight.
The remaining two names make a lot of sense for the former champ. So it’s nearly assured that one more star-studded fight will make its way to the UFC264 card. If the fight is against Justin Gaethje, it will probably be featured as the co-main event of the evening.

Both the possibilities look promising because both fighters are loved for their hardcore fighting style. On the other hand, ‘RDA’ must be delighted for the fight, as his fighting style could cause a lot of trouble for any of the fighters.
Rafael dos Anjos loves to mix his striking with his takedowns, where Gaethje and Hooker like to stand and trade. Although, Gaethje has wrestled in the early stages of his life when he was not competing in the UFC. He hardly uses his wrestling skills now, therefore ‘RDA’ has a significant chance of actually winning this fight if he somehow gets the fight to the ground.
