Dana White has been a pivotal force in shaping the UFC. As the head honcho, he has flipped the script for mixed martial arts. With his sharp business acumen, White played a key role in taking the UFC from obscurity to global prominence. But did you know? At one point in White’s life, he came across a life-threatening experience. So much so that it led the UFC president to leave his own place Boston.

Even today, that dreadful experience haunts Dana White. Well, it was no one, but the notorious organized crime figure James ‘Whitey’ Bulger who once threatened the UFC kingpin for a mere amount of money. But how did Dana White express his agony?

A once-in-a lifetime life-threatening experience

Indeed, life is all about hurdles and obstacles. Dana White’s anecdote proves the statement right. One year back, White had an elongated conversation with the renowned boxing trainer and fight commentator Teddy Atlas. He shed light on the entire incident. He said, “These guys rolled up on me one day at the gym and basically told me that I owed money.

He further quoted, And, you know there I said you know it was 1500 bucks 2500 bucks what ever the number was at the time, but he might as well ask me for 25000. I didn’t have it and they said get out from your fu*king girlfriend. They knew I had a girlfriend so yeah she doesn’t have it either.”

The video made the entire scenario evident. White shed light on the days when he used to run a boxing program in south Boston. The above anecdote was about two enforcers of Bulger who barged inside the gym to make their deeds evident. However, the UFC head honcho revealed another story about why he left Boston and shifted himself to Vegas.

Why did Dana White fly away from Boston?

Various compulsions in life regulate the deeds of a common human being; Similar scenario was going to happen with White since he had no idea about his prospective step. It was just a phone call that was enough to shift Dana White from his home to a different place altogether. White had another story that transpired his helplessness.

Explaining the anecdote further, the 54-year-old quoted, “So I just sort of blew it off and uh you know live my life was doing my thing and then long story short, one day I got a phone call at my house basically like you owe some money by tomorrow 1 o’clock. I said or what? They said you are gonna find out.”
