Bud Light has once again found itself at the center of conversation on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. Previously, the UFC commentator had shared his thoughts on the Bud Light-Dylan Mulvaney controversy. However, the reason for its resurgence in discussion this time is Joe Rogan’s close friend and comedian, Shane Willis.

To provide some context, Bud Light faced and continues to face one of the most shocking backlashes in recent memory due to its controversial partnership with transgender influencer, Dylan Mulvaney. The beer company celebrated Mulvaney’s 365 days of womanhood by sending her personalized cans featuring her face. Mulvaney posted a video on her social media, joyfully celebrating the anniversary of her transition. However, this move by Bud Light drew strong criticism from many people who perceived it as disrespectful.

As a result of the uproar, Bud Light’s sales plummeted by a staggering 30% compared to 2022. The repercussions extended beyond the beer brand itself, affecting its parent company Anheuser-Busch, which suffered billions in valuation losses. Now once again resurfacing as a topic of discussion on the JRE, the former Fear Factor host has praised Willis for standing firm in his stance amid the controversy.

Joe Rogan hails Shane Gillis amid the Bud Light drama

During the 8th installment of the ‘Protect our Parks’ series on the JRE, Joe Rogan was joined by stand-up comics Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, and Ari Shaffir. In this episode, the lively conversation covered a wide range of topics, with the guests freely discussing almost everything and anything.

At a certain point in the podcast, as the conversation flowed, everyone decided to grab a drink. Shane Gillis reached for a Bud Light, catching the attention of the UFC commentator. Curiously, the commentator asked Gillis if drinking Bud Light would get him in the headlines. Gillis replied, “Budlight’s abandoned me.”

Upon hearing this revelation, Rogan responded, saying, “You are very America, you know. This is a strong stance, to really keep buying what you really enjoy despite the obvious controversy that’s gonna come.”

The 55-year-old continued to praise fellow comic, stating,“Good for you, Shane Gillis. You’re a f**king hero… Shane Gillis, you are a real American. That’s what a real American does.”

He further emphasized, “No, for real. That’s what a real American does. You know, ‘I don’t give a f**k’.”

Indeed, it is a challenging time for Bud Light as the company faces the risk of losing its No. 1 spot in the US market. Yet, despite the backlash and controversy surrounding Bud Light’s recent actions, Shane Gillis remains steadfast in his choice to continue enjoying the beer.
