Beneil Dariush is arguably one of the best lightweights in the UFC currently. His fight against Islam Makhachev was supposed to be a true test to the Russian. Moreover, it was a fight that everyone wanted to see. 

Although owing to Dariush’s freak injury during training, he had to pull out of the fight. This happened less than two weeks before the fight. 

Since then, various people have wished Dariush a speedy recovery and now Khabib Nurmagomedov has done the same.

The ‘Eagle’ wished Dariush a speedy recovery on his Instagram live. He also emphasized that Makhachev and Dariush will eventually fight sometime or the other. The Dagestan-born fighter never fails to put out a positive word about fighters, especially since he has retired from the fight game and approaches the art of fighting in a different way altogether. 

Khabib Nurmagomedov has also given due credit for his former fellow lightweights, such as Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira, who he currently considers are the two best lightweights in the world. 

Beneil Dariush vs Islam Makhachev: The perfect choice 

Islam Makhachev squaring up against Beneil Dariush was a perfectly placed fight in the lightweight roster. This is because it genuinely tests Islam’s capabilities as a fighter, as well as proving if he’s worth all the hype an entire country carries around him.

It is also a perfect fight for Beneil Dariush as it simultaneously tests his skills while giving him an opportunity to lay waste to a Russian express that does not like to lose.

Stopping a fighter from Nurmagomedov’s team can be incredibly uplifting, especially since the Russian fighters have conducted themselves to a level of martial arts that is practically foolproof.

What’s next for Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev? 

Dariush might have lost out on an important fight. Although, these are nothing but speed bumps in an otherwise great career with a high potential for success. Dariush is currently focusing on his recovery and will then consider options or picks that the UFC has for him.

He will probably fight a high-ranked lightweight fighter when he recovers. Currently, Islam Makhachev has been left without an opponent. As of right now, Bobby Green is the only lightweight that has accepted a fight against Islam Makhachev in under 10 days’ notice.
