UFC is trying to match up ‘Borz’ with the fan-favorite Nate Diaz, who has one fight left on his contract. On The Jim Rome Show, UFC kingpin Dana White said, “To be honest with you right here, off the top of my head, this thing has played out back-and-forth so many different ways. Yes, we tried to make that fight.”

“He wanted the fight, then he didn’t want the fight. But Nate Diaz did accept the fight with him,” White concluded.

Although Diaz is not a ranked fighter, he is one of the biggest draws in the promotions. A fight between him and Chimaev will bring hefty pay-per-views for the promotion. Hence, White is opting for this match-up.
