The Irish Women’s National Soccer Team qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in their history. The event is being held in Australia and New Zealand. Moreover, UFC megastar Conor McGregor has extended his support to the team in a recent Twitter post.
Conor McGregor recently made headlines after taking aim at the Irish Education Minister Norma Foley. He opposed NCCA changing the education policy to include Allyship skills. Besides, he expressed his displeasure in a tweet which ‘The Notorious’ later deleted. However, he didn’t fail to mention how much he supports the soccer team.

Conor McGregor backs the women’s national team
Ireland took on Australia in their first World Cup game today. The former UFC double champion was tuned in to the match and shared a tweet in support of his national team’s maiden FIFA World Cup campaign. Conor McGregor tweeted, “Come on Ireland!! Great half in the bank!” The Irishman also mentioned that he was there in his Black Forge Inn pub in Ireland, witnessing the match. He added, “We are open and LIVE at [Black Forge Inn] supporting our Women in their monumental World Cup quest! Let’s go ladies!”

It is certainly a monumental moment for the national team since it is their first major FIFA tournament. McGregor also shared a story in support of the team on Instagram as well. However, the results did not turn out to be in favor of the Irish team as they lost 1-0. A second-half penalty goal was all Australia needed to seal the win in their opening match of the tournament. Meanwhile, people are expecting the United States to grab their third World Cup win in a row with a veteran American player playing her last tournament.
Megan Rapinoe is going to wrap up her career after the 2023 World Cup
American soccer legend Megan Rapinoe is arguably one of the most famous athletes in the country. She has had one of the most illustrious careers in soccer with two World Cup titles, an Olympic gold medal, and a Ballon d’Or. She, along with Alex Morgan, played an instrumental role in uplifting the US team to one of the best in the world. Meanwhile, she is about to hang up her boots at the end of the 2023 World Cup campaign.

In an exclusive interview with ‘The Ringer’, Rapinoe mentioned that she was playing her last season as a professional soccer player. She said, “This is going to be my last season.” She is ready to hang up her cleats for good after a career that lasted for 14 years.

While it may have been the end for Megan Rapinoe, the Irish women’s team has just started to gain traction, and there are much bigger and better things waiting for them in the future. It is unsure as to how they’ll fare in this year’s World Cup. However, we can hope that they will end on a good note to etch their name in the history books.
