Leon Edwards has been one of the top stars of UFC lately. The Jamaican-born fighter won the UFC welterweight champion by knocking Kamaru Usman out at UFC 278. Edwards currently sits on a 12-fight unbeaten streak, making him a force to be reckoned with in the octagon.

However, the UFC octagon is not the only place ‘Rocky’ wants to rule. Talking to Newsbeat, Leon Edwards talked about fighting in WWE. Edwards has been a big fan of WWE and was there at WWE’s Clash Of The Castle PPV last year in Cardiff. He also met WWE star Roman Reigns last year. “Get me on the top rope, I’ll give it a go for sure. I actually went to the event last year in Cardiff, Clash at the Castle.”

According to Edwards, WWE and UFC are kind of similar sports, and the fan base also isn’t much different. “I took my son, it’s quite similar and the fans are really similar”, said Edwards. It is worth noting that UFC is a real combat sports competition featuring MMA fighters and WWE is a scripted entertainment show with professional wrestlers performing choreographed moves and storylines. But Edwards is probably alluding to the two companies selling fights and having a raucous fanbase that loves entertaining matchups.

Shareholders in WWE make up the remaining 49%. WWE was valued at about $9.3 billion and the UFC at about $12.1 billion after the merger. There will be 11 members on the newly created company’s board. Endeavour will appoint six of them, while WWE will appoint five. The newly combined company’s name hasn’t yet been made public.
