There was a time Dana White thought UFC was not for women. 10 years have passed since he was made to eat his words. Ronda Rousey was the first female UFC star and is credited for opening the gates of the UFC for women. She was one of the biggest PPV performers for the UFC and is now one of the biggest stars at WWE. Despite all this, there was a time it was difficult to imagine women in the fighting cage. The UFC boss looked resolute and dismissed the chances of women fighting in the UFC multiple times in front of the media. Things, however, changed when he met a young ‘Rowdy’.

Ten Years later as fans celebrate Ronda Rousey‘s debut in the UFC. Dana White is being called out for changing his stance on women fighting in the cage. Fans were also of the opinion that Rousey was one of the best fighters that the UFC has had and that her career was an eye-opener for a lot of other women who aspired to fight.

Fans react to Ronda Rousey’s debut in the UFC

Social Media users had a lot to say about Ronda Rousey’s debut and her career.

A user commented, Dana White was setting the UFC up for women to be in it. Make it sound like it’ll never happen and people will assume it’s a huge spectacle when it does.”

Another fan commented about the UFC president. The comment read, “Not the first time Dana has eaten his words”

Fans were also appreciative of Ronda Rousey‘s career in the UFC. A fan said, She made MMA attractive. Pretty woman that could fight pretty good.”

Another fan commented, “How times have changed, a woman can’t last 6 minutes”.

While there were fans who appreciated what ‘Rowdy’ had done for the UFC, there were others who didn’t think similarly. A fan’s comment read, “The top 3 worst ppv numbers for the UFC featured female headliners.”

Another fan commented, “Rousey wasn’t the first champion she was just the first (at least the biggest) female “draw” he had at the time.” 

A fan said how women in all weight divisions were being awaited. They wrote I’m still waiting for women in ALL of the UFC weight classes.

Rousey has definitely opened the doors of the fighting cage for a lot of women who aspired to fight. Fighters who come in the future will thank her for breaking the glass ceiling as easily as she can break bones with her arm bars.
