The WWE took the combat sports world by storm in the late 1980s and 1990s. Apart from boxing, the WWE (then WWF) was probably the only combat sports promotion that boasted humongous viewership in those days. WWE wrestlers also became noted public figures with the success of the promotion. One such coveted name in WWE that gained massive fame and public affection at the time was ‘The Macho Man’ Randy Savage.

‘The Ohio native’ followed his father’s footsteps to become a professional wrestler. A large chunk of the WWE viewers of the time lauded Savage’s superb in-ring performances and weird persona on the mic. The recent Instagram post of the noted combat sports color commentator, Mike Goldberg, bears testimony to the appreciation that combat sports fans still have for ‘Macho Man’.

Goldberg recently took to Instagram and shared an aged snap from his younger days. It showcased him in the process of interviewing the ‘Macho Man’ for professional purposes. The ‘former UFC commentator’ also revealed his own appreciation for Savage in the caption of his post.
