The most humiliating loss for Aleksei Oleinik came against a ‘friend’

Aleksei is a sambo combat fighter and an MMA fighter who is #10 in the UFC heavyweight division. This is a significant accomplishment for a 43-YO, whose longevity is mind boggling. However, one of his worst losses came at the hands of Walt Harris in July 2019. The Russian lost just 12 seconds into the first round.

Speaking to Bloody Elbow, Harris said, “We would text each other and drill and do things to help each other. It was honestly tough to fight him, and especially to see him go down like he did after the fight with the injuries, that was hard for me.”

He fought as many fights in one year as some fight in their entire career

In the calendar year 2008 alone, he fought 14 bouts. This is unimaginable for most fighters, who may reach 14 fights by the end of their career. Aleksei Oleinik fought at MMA Professional Cup, Pit fighting, Champions League, Grand Prix, President Cup, you name it and he has done it. His record in 2008 was 12-2 as per ESPN stats.

His daughter barely escaped a mass shooting

Aleksei’s daughter goes to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, a city in Florida, USA. On February 14, 2018, a 19-YO former student of the same school killed 17 in the infamous barbaric incident. Aleksei’s daughter Polina was in the school, but miraculously escaped unharmed. Later, the fighter took to Instagram to express his feelings.

When Aleksei Oleinik got banned from entering Ukraine

Oleinik reportedly received a letter from the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture calling him a “threat to national security.” The fighter took birth in Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, but now has Russian citizenship. Reflecting on the same, he told a Russian Sports Outlet MK, as reported by Bloody Elbow,

“Actually, I only have one sentence about what happened: it is absurd. Power in the Ukraine has been illegally invaded by criminals, and now they’re doing what they want. And if I can be there or not be, because I’m so there is rarely visited. It would be better if they took care of the welfare of the citizens, and brought him back at least to the level that was before. Now they are engaged in populist things, trying to make people respect evil characters.”

His wife fights too!

Not much is public about the veteran fighter’s parents or wife. Playerwiveswiki gives out some information about Tatyana Oleinik, a 46-YO Russian born in 1974. She actively played various sports like basketball and volleyball while growing up. However, a spinal injury while practicing Judo kept her away from sports until she met the love of her life, Aleksei.
