UFC News: Corey Anderson Rumored To Face Jan Blachowicz With Potential Title Shot on the Line

At the top of the division in UFC light heavyweight things are getting interesting. The champion, Jon Jones is going to defend his title against the unbeaten, Dominick Reyes. While ranked 5, Corey Anderson might face ranked no 6, Jan Blachowicz in the main event of UFC fight night in New Mexico.

After a long layoff, Corey Anderson took on Johnny Walker who was believed to be the one to give Jones a tough challenge. However, Anderson effortlessly finished all the hype by knocking out Walker in the first round in UFC 244. Though he was asking for a title shot next, Dominick Reyes who was coming off a win against Chris Weidman was chosen to be the next opponent for Jones.

There were also speculations that Anderson might fight former title contender, Anthony Smith. However, as per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto UFC is targeting Corey Anderson vs Jan Blachowicz to headline UFC fight night on February 15 in New Mexico.

Jan Blachowicz is coming off two impressive wins against Luke Rockhold and Jacare Souza. While Blachowicz knocked out former middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold in the second round, he won via decision against Jacare Souza. It is safe to assume that the winner of this fight might get a title shot after Reyes vs Jones.

However, it is also to be noted that Jon Jones might move up to heavyweight division or fight Israel Adesanya in a super fight. Jon Jones has been teasing about his heavyweight debut for a meaningful period and his rivalry against Israel Adesanya is getting bigger.

Both Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz are arguably two wins away from becoming the UFC light heavyweight champion, Hence a lot will be on stake going into this fight. That apart. Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith might make their comeback next year and there are also speculations of Anthony Johnson coming out of retirement for a fight with Jon Jones.
