UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs Benavidez 2 ended a few hours ago. The card featured an incredible main event. Brazilian fighter, Deiveson Figueiredo, took on Joseph Benavidez in a rematch for the vacant flyweight title. The last time these athletes two collided, Figueiredo won the match via a knockout.

However, he could not win the belt as he was more than 2 lbs overweight. Besides that, the duo collided heads before the finishing sequence. As a result, the UFC had no choice but to book a rematch.

As predicted, the bout did not go the distance. Figueiredo once again proved that he is incredibly powerful. He knocked down Benavidez multiple times before putting him to sleep with a rear naked choke. Post-fight, UFC president Dana White was extremely happy with the results.

“Pure violence! No controversy in this one. We have pretty nasty champions in those two divisions [Flyweight and Bantamweight] now,” White said during the post-fight presser.

At a point in time, White was planning to get rid of the flyweight division. However, he has changed his stance since then. When a reporter mentioned White’s previous intentions, White said:

“When was the last time I talked about getting rid of the [flyweight division]? It’s here.”

Moreover, White mentioned that this fight did not have any controversies like the last one.

“I mean, look at how good this guy looked tonight, look at what he did. A ton of controversy in the first fight. The weight, the headbutts, you know? No controversy in this one. This guy came and did what he said he was gonna do against the #2 ranked guy in the world. He looked damn good doing it.”
