“I Love Khabib Nurmagomedov”- Yoel Romero Recalls His Stay at Dagestan

Yoel Romero is one of the scariest fighters on the planet. recently, he delivered one of the most heartwarming messages to the world. However, Romero was quickly reminded of a past incident which caused him to burst out in laughter.

The Soldier of God is one of the oldest active fighters in the UFC. Despite being 42 years old, Cuban is a tough matchup for anyone in the middleweight division. And with a body that looks like it was carved out of stone, Romero is one of the most athletic fighters in the company.

He is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC with an Olympic Silver medal in freestyle wrestling. Along with that, the soldier of God is blessed with huge power in his shots. He can put anyone to sleep at any given moment. The Cuban can also absorb a large amount of punishment.

With all those attributes, it is easy to think of Romero as a bruiser. However, that is not the case. Outside the octagon, Romero is full of love and laughter.

Recently, the UFC organized its Media Lunch Day ahead of its UFC 248 card. Romero shared a powerful story about his love for Khabib Nurmagomedov and his time in Dagestan.

He said that love is the most important emotion. No matter what religion one comes from, there should be no division among people.

Romero talked about Khabib and his stay in Dagestan back in the days when he was wrestling.

“What happened to you, USA?…Forget for the best of the best in the world. The name is Jesus Christ. What happened to you? Wake up USA… Go for Jesus. No forget Jesus people.”

Romero was simply trying to tell the people of America not to “forget” Jesus Christ. However, due to the language barrier, he was not able to put the message across without a few hiccups.

The internet had a field day with Romero’s statements. Everybody interpreted it in their way. On one episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, even Brendan Schaub claimed that Romero said “no for gay Jesus” and not “no forget Jesus.”

Romero is set to face Israel Adesanya at UFC 248 for the middleweight championship. He will be Adesanya’s toughest challenge yet.
