“I Wanted To Watch But Then I Fell Asleep”- Colby Covington Trolls Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal

Colby Covington sat down with MMA Junkie and surveyed the recently occurred welterweight thriller between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. The inaugural Fight Island headliner witnessed Kamaru Usman defending his welterweight strap against Masvidal via unanimous decision. However, it was a vitriolic win for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Usman has been bashed severely by the fans for his performance. And Covington went on to bash him similarly in the recent interview.

Yet, the ‘Chaos’ also criticized Jorge Masvidal. And labeled both the contenders to be boring. In his interview with MMA Junkie, Colby Covington reflected opinion on several things. One of them being, the UFC 251 headliner between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman. No wonder, like the whole world, Colby also watched the fight. However, he denounced it to be a boring contest.

Colby Covington analyses the UFC 251 headliner ‘Usman vs Masvidal’

Demeaning the excessive number of clinches in the fight, Colby Covington tagged it as a “hug fest”. And said that it wasn’t a real fight. However, the ‘Chaos’ seemingly lashed more towards the BMF champion.

“I wanted to watch but then I fell asleep. I was so boring, It was a hug fest, near played the footsies all the time. That wasn’t a real fight you know, Marty Fake Newsman stopped him way down in the fight.”

“He (Jorge Masvidal) is definitely the most boring fighter in the UFC and in the history of UFC. And we found out just what I said the whole time ‘Street Judas’ Masvidal is all hype. He had his 15 seconds of fame, his 15 seconds of fame are up. He is not a world-class fighter, He got exposed,” said Colby.

If you are willing to witness a rematch between Masvidal and Usman. Colby doesn’t share the same opinion. While Masvidal has already asked for it, Colby newly stated, “It’s pathetic that he’s out there asking for a rematch. He (Masvidal) lost every round, dude you got destroyed. I won three rounds off ‘Marty Fake Newsman (Usman),”

Will the ‘Chaos’ return soon?

After an unsuccessful attempt on the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 245, Colby is yet to fight again. However, he is expected to make a return against Tyron Woodley shortly. Although the fight is not official yet, Dana White is reportedly trying to get the deal sealed.

Meanwhile, Gilbert Burns would get the next title shot against Kamaru Usman. Burns was earlier scheduled for the fight at UFC 251. However, he had to pull out after his COVID-19 test reports came out as positive. He has reportedly recovered now. And Colby would have to wait a bit longer for another title shot.
