“It’s His Time, Not Mine”-Gilbert Burns Issues a Heartfelt Statement

July 5, 2020 9:28 pm

Gilbert Burns has somewhat of a positive outlook on the way things have turned out for him. He believes that what is his will find its way back into his arms, or around his waist!

UFC 251 was set up to be this big event that inaugurated the Fight Island. But in a recent turn of events, one half of the main event has shockingly pulled out of the fight. Gilbert Burns will not be flying out to the island to face Kamaru Usman for the 170lbs belt.

Gilbert Burns and a few of his cornermen tested positive for coronavirus. With these results, they couldn’t board the flight headed for Abu Dhabi and pulled out of the fight. Gilbert Burns also took to Twitter to announce this news. He said he wasn’t feeling great, but will get better soon. He has also promised to come back much stronger and eventually win this battle.

In another tweet, Burns showed us what he’s actually made of. The man is a believer and knows his destiny will find its way back to him. Burns has accepted his current situation and isn’t brooding over his current condition. He has rather accepted God’s plans for him.

Gilbert Burns tweeted, “I just know God loves me so much, and I just believe and I accept his plans and everything he has for me! it’s his time, not mine!”

Will Gilbert Burns be replaced?

Clearly, Burns isn’t fussing about missing the match. But now comes in the question. Will Burns be replaced at the main event of UFC 251 or will it just be rescheduled for a later date?

As of now, we don’t have any definitive answers. Sources all over have said that the UFC is in talks with other contenders of the division. They’re looking for a replacement as of now.

According to Ariel Helwani, Jorge Masvidal and his team are in talks with the promotion. If that falls through we will get what was originally planned, a clash between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title.

What do you think? Will Masvidal set aside all his differences with the UFC and accept this fight offer?
