Hooker came out on twitter as well confirming that he is more than willing to take on Poirier.

Expected to headline the UFC Fight Night in San Diego, the two will likely face off on the 16th of May. Twitter has seen The Hangman and Dustin Poirier exchanging blows for quite some time. The two have been going back and forth since Hooker won against Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision back in October 2019.

While Poirier was looking to bag a fight against Conor McGregor, he might have to go back on his word and take on Hooker instead.

Initially, Poirier was looking to step back into the octagon sometime in January. However, he had to put his plans on hold due to an injury to his hip. The fighter had to undergo surgery to “repair multiple tears in the labrum”.

Poirier is eagerly looking for vindication after his title loss to the reigning UFC Lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Dagestani fighter forced Poirier into submitting with a rear-naked choke in the third round. It looks like he will finally get a chance to make his way back to winning ways.
