Khamzat came into the organization from Brave CF. In his debut, he was set up against John Phillips. John came into the fight on the back of an amazing first-round knockout win over Amedovski. It took Phillips 17 seconds to get rid of his opponent.
The pair fought in July of this year. “Borz” dominated from start to finish. He secured his first win in the UFC via submission. Following his win over John, Khamzat requested the UFC and Dana white to give him another fight on Fight Island.
The UFC and Dana white obliged. Khamzat was matched up with Rhys McKee. The Irish fighter made his debut in the UFC against Khamzat. McKee, however, was stopped in round three of the fight. By earning a stoppage win over McKee, “Borz” set a record for the fastest turnaround victory in the UFC. Chimaev now faces veteran Gerald Meerschaert.
