“You’re in the Hospital”: Fitness King Terry Crews Rubbished the Idea of Benching 600 Pounds in 2018

NFL player turned actor, Terry Crews is considered to be one of the fittest men in Hollywood. Terry Crews is a man of multiple talents. From being a footballer to becoming an actor, film producer, and illustrator. He is the true meaning of the word “artist.”

Terry Crews is a former American footballer. After retiring from the fields in 1997, he began his acting career in the year 1999 with the game show Battle Dome. However, his views on intense training were pretty straightforward forever.

Terry’s view on extreme fitness training

Despite retreating from the fields over 2 decades ago, Terry has maintained his athletic physique throughout the years. Naturally, he gets asked about it more often than not. Terry believes in working out regularly rather than intensely for some time and nothing for the rest of the time. He feels that one should be prepared to look good at all times.

In an interview with bodybuilding.com in 2018, Terry spoke about the importance of the right training. He also explained how pushing yourself to extremes in the gym and be hazardous to health.

He said, “As a man, as you get older, lifting heavy really helps your testosterone level. I feel as young as I did when I was 20. But, I always stay within a safe zone. I never go for a 1RM because what’s the point? You can try to bench 600 pounds, but if you blow a pec, it’s a wrap. You’re in the hospital and then in rehab for the next year.”

He further added, “So, I always go to the point where I feel like I could do just a little bit more. If I can do three reps instead of trying to one rep, it’s all good to me.”

What inspires Terry Crews to work out?

Additionally, Terry revealed what inspired him to work out more. He shared that it was the lifestyle in Africa that prompted him to work out daily. Sometimes, he worked out twice a day owing to the pleasant ambiance of the place.

For the unversed, Terry Crews was a part of the movie “Blended” which came out in 2014. The shooting for this movie, for the most part, took place in Africa. It was during the shooting of this movie that Terry changed his entire fitness philosophy.
