Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce adds hurdles to her routine

For decades, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been a significant name in the sprinting world. When athletes start preparing for their retirement in their 30s, Shelly has reached the peak of her performance. In 2021, she clocked the world’s third-fastest time of 10.60 seconds.

An unstoppable force, Shelly now has her aim at breaking into 10.50 seconds in 2022. Already back to her training after an exhausting yet rewarding year, she has added the hurdle exercises to her routine.

Sprinters use the hurdles to condition their knees for sprinting. Interestingly, their goal isn’t to cross the hurdles as fast as possible, but as a way to improve their knee strength.

Fraser-Pryce posted on her Instagram, revealing her new technique. Shelly-Ann wrote, “So here’s the catch😌…this exercise wasn’t necessarily hard for me at all😉 as I didn’t really have to exert that much energy like when I am running🏃‍♀️ but it served a real purpose in the whole cycle of what I am trying to accomplish! So guess what – I go through the paces – no shortcuts. Ever! So let’s flip the mirror on how you are targeting your goals💭.”

She further added, “What seemingly simple, even mundane🥱, thing flows into the bigger picture or dream you have? Here is my two cents🙂 – keep doing it! Keep the same energy and the same focus until the very end. “Everything has it’s part and will come together for good for you” – always does 🙏.”
