Bull Riding’s Governing Body Celebrates Retirement of Champion ‘Animal Athlete’

Just as one remarkable bull earns our respect, others of equal greatness inspire admiration. The bull riding community recently celebrated the retirement of one of its most esteemed champions, marking the close of an illustrious career that leaves an indelible legacy within the cherished history of rodeo.

Happy Camper, a regal and distinguished bull honoured twice with the PBR Canada Bull of the Year title, was poised to bid farewell during the 2023 PBR Canada National Finals in Edmonton, Alberta. A heartfelt and highly poignant retirement send-off had been organized in his grand honour.

Recently, PBR Canada shared a reel on Instagram which started by saying, “It’s been such an incredible night. We so proudly celebrate all the great things … There’s an incredible athlete that will make his final appearance in this arena see his name is Happy Camper and he is one of the greatest bulls of all time anywhere in the world.”

Owner of Happy Camper, Josh Berezay said that Happy Camper, the bull born on his property, stood out from the start despite being a bit difficult in the pen. He emerged as the most special bull among his 13 pen mates. He further added that the decision of retirement looms, and it’s tough; he’s not just any bull to replace. Also, the PBR host thanked the Berezay family for this fantastic bull that has been responsible for great moments within PBR Canada, as well as our sport at large. They captioned this post, “An animal athlete as accomplished as Happy Camper delivers a retirement sendoff fit for a Champion“. His illustrious career spans innumerable wins.

A stellar career in professional bull riding

In professional bull riding, Happy Camper, who earned the title of PBR Canada Bull of the Year, twice stands out. This bull has become memorable for having made seven PBR Canada Finals qualifications as well as participated in five PBR World Finals.

A well-known bucker, Happy Camper, defeated Dakota Buttar and Zane Lambert, showing how good he was. It has concluded his great career that left its imprint on the grounds of the Canadian Bull Riding Society from which he retires at this year’s PBR Canada National Finals. Moreover, it will leave space for his bloodline to make a difference because his offspring might continue.
