“Most Embarrassing”: Magnus Carlsen Reveals He Just Made the Biggest Blunder of His Career

The world number one chess player Magnus Carlsen made a huge blunder. Well, it was not in a game of chess but the Norwegian Grand Master counts it among the professional blunders as he tweeted, “Of the many blunders I’ve made in my professional career, this may be the most embarrassing yet!”

The world champion tweeted this after missing a deadline on Fantasy Premier League. Apart from chess, he loves football and his skills in FPL are that of a professional team manager. It started as a hobby, but Carlsen is now among the top Fantasy League players in the world.
Magnus Carlsen excels at everything he touch

His love for FPL is well evident from his Twitter bio, which says, “World Chess Champion. The highest ranked chess player in the world. Former (live) #1 Fantasy Premier League player.”
The world chess champion started playing the game in 2015 and finished 85,781 amongst some million players in his debut season. While at the end of the 2019 season, the Norwegian Grand Master was in the 3rd position out of over 7 million people. Carlsen’s success in FPL is not mere luck, but it’s based on his strong analytical skills and knowledge of the game.

He says, “Of course, if you’re playing well, you give yourself a much better chance of being lucky. For me, it’s just an interest. I like watching the games, I like spending a little bit of time to consider what players I’m going to use … I’m somebody who spends at least a little bit of time on it.
