Although, while practicing he faced some challenges as well. The equine came to Santa Anita and on the 20th of September, he worked a five-furlong drill and completed it in 1:00.80. According to the Paulick Report, Abarrio was again scheduled for a drill last week, but he couldn’t complete it as track veterinarians said his condition was not up to the mark. Hence, did not allow his training to go forward.

Abarrio’s trainer, Rick Dutrow did not give much of an explanation about the cancellation. In fact, he just agreed with what the vets had to say. During the weekend, farrier Ian Mckinlay did his best to prepare White Abarrio and then again on the 2nd of October, he was given the chance to breeze. He achieved the remarkable by covering five furlongs in 1:01.60 under jockey Emily Ellingwood. The jockey was more than proud of the horse.
