Kamila Valieva was on the Olympic ice rink in 2022 when the details of her doping case were brought out. According to reports, the then 15-year-old had tested positive for trimetazidine, a heart medication that can boost endurance. As per Valieva’s legal team arguments, the medication belonged to her grandfather and Valieva ‘had inadvertently ingested‘ the same. The World Anti-Doping Agency has categorized trimetazidine as a “hormone and metabolic modulator.” However, Dr. Anton Rodionov, a prominent cardiologist added that the effect of the drug on a 15-year-old elite athlete would be “smaller than small.” The numerous angles of the case thus elongated the case to provide a verdict over a 2-year-period. Though Kamila Valieva and team haven’t expressed their thoughts yet, the youngster has previously spoken of the difficulties.
