The World Artistic Gymnastics Championship wasn’t supposed to be an easy ride for anybody. Even gymnastics queen Simone Biles is taking heat at the championships. The 5x world all-around champion relied on her most dangerous weapon, the Yurchenko Double Pike at Antwerp, Belgium. Biles was given the first chance to perform the Biles II to be inducted into the Code of Points at the 2023 World Artistic Championship. However, the celebration of its almost perfect execution was marred due to a technicality.

Simone Biles ran towards the vault apparatus and successfully launched another perfect Yurchenko Double Pike. Taking the first opportunity Biles got her name into the roster for the fifth time in her career. In fact, her execution in Belgium christened the mighty move with a 6.4 difficulty after her name. Despite this, a technicality that shouldn’t really be there left a bitter taste in her mouth.

Biles is currently facing the best gymnasts in the world, including home rivals Shilese Jones and Joscelyn Roberson. While everyone celebrated the birth of the new “Biles II” vault, a technical deduction awaited it as well. Simone obtained a score of 14.949 from the vault but suffered a 0.5 deduction.

The judges slashed her points since she used a spotter for the vault. This deduction has forever harrowed the greatest gymnast of all time, but it is something she is always willing to take. The same technical deduction doesn’t count in uneven bars, but that is already the weakest suit of Simone Biles. Despite this, Simone Biles has bigger things to focus on and will look toward the next stage of the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship.

Most interestingly, Biles is back at the venue where she started her Titan journey and claimed her first World Championship title. The Belgian city of Antwerp witnessed the stellar rise of a new and the greatest monolith of global gymnastics. Biles is now back where she started ten years ago to resume her global domination thwarted by the ‘twisties.’ With her greatest weapon rebranded after her, Biles and Biles Two are ready to walk out of Belgium with a shining gold medal.
