As is natural for any of the successful sportspersons, sponsorships and multi-million-dollar deals, always come their way more often than not. Simone Biles has also had similar offers from companies in the past. Now, Biles is in a partnership with Athleta, a women’s activewear brand owned by Gap Inc., since 2021. Athleta’s focus on empowering women and girls has been close to Biles’ heart.

Athleta’s presence in her life was once again in focus when Biles wore a green puffer jacket designed by the company on Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs to cheer her husband, Jonathan Owens, and his team, the Green Bay Packers.

Simone Biles entered Lambeau Field yesterday wearing a green puffer jacket. The color of the jacket was a perfect way of supporting Jonathan Owens’ yellow and green jersey-clad squad. The Packers’ colors weren’t the only thing that was special about this winterwear. The hooded jacket was designed for Simone Biles and was custom-made for the occasion. Athleta had designed the jacket and even posted a photo of Biles in the said coat. The photo was uploaded on the official Athleta Instagram story with the caption, “Spotted, @simonebiles’ game-day look by Athleta. The GOAT kept warm tonight in our Downtown Puffer”. The jacket perhaps gave Simone Biles the confidence to rush out to the field just as the snow started to fall.

After exchanging a swift ‘best of luck’ kiss with her husband, she made her way back to the warm confines of her spectators’ box. She would watch the game in comfort now, knowing that her puffer jacket gave her all the warmth she needed.

Athleta is a women’s activewear company owned by Gap Inc. In 2021, Biles joined hands with Athleta after coming away from Nike. In her words, she left Nike because “they (Athleta) are committed to diversity and inclusion, which was really important for me. Using my voice has been very empowering for me, and I’m grateful to embark on this new journey with Athleta to inspire young girls and women to do the same.”

She launched an activewear line in collaboration with the two-billion-dollar brand. As a petite woman, Simone Biles has faced criticism about her height. Notwithstanding all derision, Biles has managed to cast a long shadow with her manifold accomplishments. She wanted to inspire athletes who have faced similar comments and named her collection “Because I Can.” On the other hand, this brand recognition is important for Athena which has plans to launch its products globally.
