The New York Yankees are coming off a slightly disappointing season in 2021. The Yankees Stadium faithful hasn’t been seeing their side in full flow for some seasons now. One should not lose hope because the off-season has seen some signs of revival. Even while the lockout is ongoing, it seems as though the Yankees are focused on moves nonetheless.

Fan accounts have taken to Twitter to check the pulse of the Yankee faithful to see who they prefer.

Yankees Moves for the 2022 Off-Season

While a majority of the moves in the 2022 off-season stand stalled as the lockout lumbers on, the Yankees move ahead with it. The Stadium faithful will look to make some moves before the 2022 campaign begins. In need of a shortstop or a third baseman, the Yankees were expected to go after Seager before he was signed on by the Rangers for a bumper extension.

The Yankees have been atypically slow to act this season, only signing Mets utility man Jose Peraza. While expected to go after, Seager, Correa, or even Starling Marte, their city neighbors from Queens have been fast actors in the off-season, having signed Scherzer on the mound and reinforced with a whole host of free agents.

It’s not all downside for the Yankees though, who have also managed to get Eric Chavez as batting coach. Aaron Boone clearly seems to be impressed with the coach and this could yet be the staff signing that the Yankees need. Jon Heyman, an MLB reporter has also expressed excitement about the appointment.

New York Yankees pursuit of free agents

The Yankees potentially stand to pursue one of two targets in free agency. Carlos Correa, the man half of the baseball world is after but isn’t allowed to talk to, and Trevor Story. Correa is reportedly after a long-term contract and the subject of sincere interest from the Cubs. Story might well stand to profit from this uncertainty though.

Story is a free agent for the first time this offseason after spending 6 seasons with the Rockies. He could potentially be a short-term fix for the Yankees roster. The shortstop, at 29, has had his most productive seasons a few years ago but could well do a job at the Stadium.

Adding to it, Story seems to be a sound defender at shortstop, having registered an impressive record during his six seasons with the Rockies.
