Nicklas Backstrom might be the star on the ice but his son became the star of the arena on Sunday. Backstrom’s son, Vince, accompanied him to the Captials’ Youth hockey day. The father-son shared the most heartwarming moment, which left viewers cooing over the two.

Keeping up with the tradition, every player was accompanied by a child. Some brought their kids, whereas others were accompanied by kids from the local youth hockey organizations. While all the pairs were equally adorable, the Backstrom duo became the highlight of the night. Not only did little Vince accompany his father to the game, but he also gave his first-ever professional interview.

On 12th February 2023, the Swedish Ice hockey champion and his son, Nicklas, stole the heart of millions. The first instance was when Vince and his dad entered the arena. Sharing a clip of the moment on their official Twitter handle, NBC Capitals wrote, “Backstrom arrives with son Vince ahead of today’s Youth Hockey Day game! 😍”

However, that wasn’t the part that everyone was talking about. It was when the duo shared a long hug before the player went in to change, that stole hearts. The clip undoubtedly went viral when Washington Capitals posted it.

The said video alone has received more than 71000 views in less than 48 hours. Moreover, when Papa Backstrom was gearing up for the match, little Vince was giving an interview of his own.

When asked, Vince told the interviewer that he has been playing for two years. Also, one can expect to see him on the ice in the future. The little one is trained by none other than his father, and also thinks, that the best part of ice hockey is scoring goals.

The recent hot topic of the NHL world, Alexander Ovechkin entered the arena with the players of the Washington Ice Dogs. The said players were, Ann Schaab, Justin Smith, and Ben McCormick. This was also the event when Ovechkin met his old friend who is now a teenager, Ann Schaab.

Furthermore, Dylan Strome walked in with Washington Pride’s Liv Murray. And Garnet Hathaway arrived with Leif Young and Ellie Scrogham. Young and Scrogham were representing NOVA Cool Cats. More than 20 local organizations were represented by various young talents and professional players.
