Charting unprecedented terrains and procuring success as an entrepreneur, mentor, and influencer, Lindsey Vonn, the alpine skiing legend and an inexorable juggernaut, continues to inspire. Four years post-retirement, the two-time Olympic medalist shared her ongoing mission: She’s a woman from Minnesota, striving every day to create a positive impact on the world.

Nonetheless, it was evident that the price paid for more than a decade of rigorous rivalry was displayed on her body. She suffered multiple crashes and operations, ranging from ACL tears to broken bones in her lower body, up to a tibial plateau fracture. These injuries, compounded with skiing as an activity that requires great athleticism, made sustaining her high standard of performance more challenging. Hence, she veered towards retirement. Yet, the question lingers: is a comeback on the horizon in 2023?

After retirement, Lindsey Vonn often shares snippets of her adventurous journey, from encounters like a jellyfish sting to occasional surfing mishaps. However, her recent Instagram update was quite different. Dressed elegantly in gym wear and working out with elan, she showcased herself pushing hard in the gym with a captivating caption, Getting ready for skiing.” This seemed like a tantalizing tease for a probable comeback, alluded to from her story.

Nevertheless, Mikaela Shiffrin, months back, created history when she went on to win her 83rd World Cup race in the giant slalom at Kronplatz, Italy. This made her rise to being the most-winning female skier after Lindsey Vonn’s 82 wins. She began this competition in pole position and ended it by winning, solidifying her position as a skiing legend nearing Ingemar Stenmark’s overall record of 86 wins.
