From Newcastle to becoming a revered Rodeo Coach at Cisco College has been nothing short of remarkable. The rodeo journey isn’t a cakewalk and Don Ed Eddleman has nailed it. Amidst the electric atmosphere of Cheyenne Frontier Days PRCA Rodeo, celebrations are in full swing.  Don Ed Eddleman, the esteemed Head Rodeo Coach, once again made an unforgettable triumph.

Ranked 27th in the world he’d already showcased his exceptional skills recently when he was titled “The Coach Of The Year”. And now, after winning Legacy Steer Roping and Rodeo Steer Roping his moves has left spectators in awe and admiration.

Don’s amazing win and history in the Rodeo community

According to Coleman Today, the Cheyenne Frontier Days PRCA Rodeo started on July 22 till 30th July 2023. Where Eddleman’s Legacy Steer Roping triumph and 6th place in Steer Roping have once again showcased his sheer love for Rodeo to his fans. He is from Cisco, TX, US. This is not the first time he has earned a victory in Steer Roping. He said, “Steer Roping is more a patience and perseverance event. It’s easier for me and on me than calf roping, which was always my main event growing up”.  His accolades continued, earning him the title of Champion Calf Roper of the Southwest Region in 1988.

Back in 2015, he embraced his “calling” to be a rodeo coach, not just an occupation, but a purpose-driven path. With support from the Wilks Family, who contributed to building the Rodeo Pavilion, Eddleman found a nurturing environment to shape the young talents at Cisco College. Coaching alongside his wife, Pamala, Assistant Coach, Don Ed Eddleman instills positivity & resilience in his athletes. His philosophy of focusing on the positive in every situation fosters a supportive environment. Here everyone is on the same page, united in their pursuit of success.

A positive vision for the future

While celebrating the recent triumph at Cheyenne Frontier Days, Eddleman envisions using the strong foundation to expand further. He is positive with his thoughts and dreams. He said, “pull the positive out of every situation, and do not even think about the negative side of what’s going on.” Rather than conventional recruitment methods, he believes in empowering his current athletes to spread the word about Cisco College Rodeo.

He added, “We would like to expand in the future. Not so much growth in students, but growth in being able to advance our kids further on down the road in their disciplines… whatever they may be.” With 4 athletes heading to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, his emphasis is on their individual performances. Take one head of stock at a time, maintain a consistent pace throughout the long average event, and make it happen. That’s how a passionate rodeo lover wins the game.
