“Accidentally Drinking the Entire Ocean”: Taking a Break From Skiing, Mikaela Shiffrin Tries Out a New Sport

After trying her hands at windsurfing last year in Hawaii, two-time Olympic gold medalist, Mikaela Shiffrin recently returned to her new hobby. In the early week of May, the skier decided to relax by the beaches in Maui with her brother Taylor. As Shiffrin is currently enjoying her off-season shenanigans, she had the time of her life, surfing the gutsy waves. She also shared her recent windsurfing experience after returning from the island.

On May 22, skier Mikaela Shiffrin took to her Twitter to share a still from her windsurfing adventure at the Kanaha Beach Par in Maui. Nevertheless, she also shared her upcoming vacation plans.

In her latest Twitter post, Shiffrin shared a snap of her windsurfing. For a change, the skier was spotted in the water and not on the ice. She wore a swimming suit, a life-saving jacket, a helmet, and goggles. Her happiness to try a new sport, evidently reflected in her smile in the picture.

Sharing her joyous moment, she explained her windsurfing experience. The skier revealed that she joined a windsurfing training camp in Maui, especially to improve her skills. “Windsurf & Training Camp on Maui ended a few days ago!” However, as the session recently ended, she will miss many aspects of windsurfing.

She revealed some interesting anecdotes that she will remember forever, “Gonna miss getting catapulted off my rig on the daily and accidentally drinking the entire ocean in a session only for it to pour out my nose later in the day, but duty calls!” The high World Cup winner shared that she drank so much ocean water while surfing that she was later compelled to pour it out from her nose.

However, now, Shiffrin will move to her next destination to enjoy the remaining days of her off-season, “Now it’s time to do more training in other parts of the world! Like… home… hahah☺️”

Besides windsurfing at the beach, Shiffrin has previously been spotted enjoying other sports.

In 2022, Mikaela Shiffrin shared a Twitter video of her and her boyfriend, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, playing a soccer match during their beach vacation. The couple were the only two players in the match. In the beginning, the ball was owned by the skier. She performs a series of tricks to confuse her opponent.

However, in the second half of the match, Kilde swiftly stole the ball from her, showing some impressive nutmegs. Although there was no winner of the match, it showed how skilled the skiing couple were. Despite skiing, they also knew several amazing football stunts.
