This year, the fans and followers saw Michael Paulinski grab the PHLY Insurance Award. The same stage saw Logan Wismer from Team Northampton lift the glory in the past. So, this year’s Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Fall Festival could not gasp more to know the next winner’s name.

It took a full-page Facebook post to release the winner’s name. However, the name was not meant to take more than one or two lines. But it was the unmatched quality of Michael that filled the center stage.

Honoring the athlete, the Facebook page penned, “We are proud and honored to announce that MICHAEL Paulinski from Montogomery County is our 2023 Valor Award Winner!” Adding to this, they further wrote, “Michael has been a Special Olympics athlete for more than 30 years, participating in volleyball (his favorite sport), basketball, swimming and powerlifting. Additionally, Michael is a trained Global Messenger and an amazing advocate for the disability community.

The Special Olympics athlete from Montgomery saw various downfalls in his life. However, that fell short in front of his determination to take part in certain sports in the Special Olympics. The physically heavy game of Volleyball happens to be his favorite. Certainly, this man found ways to support his teammates or give his best, even in the darkest hours of his life.

Fans and families pour their hearts out in the social media post

Michael Paulinski might not be a known name before the night of September 6. However, it took just a few hours to make the name a synonym for true grit. At least, the congratulatory post from PHLY watched the floods of lines taking the regard for the characters of Michael. One user by the name of Melissa Stutzaman reacted to the post through the lines, “Congratulations, Michael! He sounds like an amazing person and teammate”.

Such messages went in the form of “Congratulations you sound like a truly amazing human being! It sounds like you deserve this award for so many reasons, and you will represent this award with honor!” from another user, Shayne Paul. Erin Whalen, who coached Michael, wrote, “I’m proud to be your friend and coach Michael Paulinski”

Meanwhile, many known ones also joined in and remembered their marks in Michael’s life. One such post from Jessica Lynn quipped, “Congratulations! My mom and aunt worked with you Michael at the YMCA… well deserved!!! “. Sincerely, Michael used to regard his late father Joey to be his best friend. So, on a day like this, a certain Jill Colford Schoeniger remembered that part, “Congratulations, Michael!! So well-deserved. Your mom and dad would be so proud.” Someone named Stephanie Doyle reacted with the best mood, “Michael Paulinski is a rock star!”

So, all it took to be a Michael Paulinski to not face any derogatory remark from anyone. But will it be a milestone to follow for the other ones also? It will surely take time to find an answer to that.
