According to the World Aquatics YouTube stream, soon after the race, Sameh revealed, “I don’t know if I can celebrate this honestly. It’s been a really mentally tough week for me. I’ve been getting death threats. People have been attacking me all week for supporting Palestine.” Sameh further revealed that his family is extremely worried about his safety at the ongoing World Cup. As mentioned earlier, Michael Andrew has also been posting a lot lately about the ongoing war and recently highlighted a soldier’s dilemma during the war.

Just a few days ago, Michael Andrew took to his Instagram to post about the dedication and commitment of an Israeli soldier who is also a swimming coach. Andrew had reshared an Instagram story of Gabi Silverman who was training with buckets of water while also carrying a rifle due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. While Silverman’s original story was captioned, “Pov: you’re a swimmer at war and don’t want to loose that feel for the water,” Andrew’s reshared story was accompanied by the caption, “On the front lines and still training for the pool. Man is built different.”
