Coco Gauff and Sydney McLaughlin Come Together for a Special Collab

Track and field star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has gained massive achievements at a young age. The 23-year-old stunned the world in 2022 by creating a 400-meter hurdles world record with a time of 50.68 seconds at the World Championships in Eugene. With her series of achievements, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has also attracted several advertisements. Recently, the athlete featured in New Balance’s latest commercial alongside Georgian tennis player Coco Gauff. 

On May 28, athletic shoe and apparel brand, New Balance Running released an interesting advertisement video on Instagram, featuring Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Coco Gauff. The theme of the advertisement was togetherness which was perfectly carried out by the two athletes.

The Instagram video featured Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone walking fiercely in a pink athletic suit layered with a baseball jacket. While walking, she held a blue cloth that she eventually passed to the tennis player CoCo Gauff. The 19-year-old catches the cloth and starts to perform a cone drill. 

Next, both the athletes perform spot jogging together, flaunting their stylish and convenient white athletic sports shoes. Eventually, they transition to running together, having a great time. Captioned as “Together in sport. 2023. #WeGotNow, the athletes give out the message that everyone has the right to play and fearlessly follow their passion together.

Just like McLaughlin-Levrone, Gauff has also accrued an ocean of achievement at an early age. In 2022, she dominated the tennis world with a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in singles and world No. 1 in doubles. Moreover, Gauf was only 15 when she became the youngest singles title-holder by winning her first WTA Tour title at the 2019 Linz Open. 

This was the track and field athlete’s second brand collaboration this year. In February, she was featured in a commercial for The SportsCenter.

On February 4, SportsCenter released an advertisement before the Duke-North Carolina basketball game. In the commercial titled “Seconds”, anchor Hannah Storm asks McLaughlin-Levrone if she had a minute to talk. To this, the 400-meter hurdler replied to Storm, saying that she has “51.46 right after lunch, or I’ve got 51.41 later this afternoon. Oh, wait, I have 50.68 right now.” Puzzled by her unique timings, Storm tells her, “It’s not that important.”

In reality, the athlete was flaunting the time frames that made her a renowned track and field star. On August 21, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, she completed the race within 51.46 seconds. Then again, at the USATF Outdoor Championships 2022, she finished the race within 51.41 seconds. Lastly, the 23-year-old finished the World Championship race in July 2022 in 50.68 seconds. Before her, legendary athlete Usain Bolt also had starred in the brand’s commercial in 2009.

Collaborations with multiple athletes are always great for advertising a brand. Athletes are selected based on how they are perceived by their fans. Hence, celebrating their go-getter attitude in achieving their dreams, the brand rightly chose Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Coco Gauff to embody inspiring stories.
