Nikki Hiltz Sponsorships and Brand Endorsements

In June 2022, Hiltz became a brand ambassador for Lululemon, the famous athletic apparel brand, and is often seen posing for the label. But this tie-up came after they had been without a sponsor for a while. They decided to walk away from Adidas in December 2021, towards something more wholesome and appealing to her. Adidas had been with them since 2018. Hiltz signed a deal and had been training with The Mission Athletic Club (now The Golden Coast Track Club) before they decided not to renew.

Hiltz said to Runner’s World in June 2022, “It was definitely scary to walk away from that. But I think something inside me knew there was a brand out there that could value me for my running and my advocacy.” And with Lululemon, Hiltz has found exactly that flexibility: “I’m excited to be with a brand where our values align and they see me for more than just a runner.”

Continuing, they added, “They see what I’m doing off the track as well and they value that just as much.” Being an advocate for the trans community has been so key for Nikki Hiltz. In fact, losing faith in their track and field career, they were in a dark place. What gave them renewed hope was championing the cause for the transgender community.

So, when they stepped out for the first race of the 2022 season in a singlet with the words ‘Protect Trans Kids’ on it, they were no longer just racing for themselves. They are becoming part of something bigger. And was the fire they needed. “By wearing ‘Protect Trans Kids,’ I was like, this is my team, all the trans youth out there, this is my sponsor. I’m doing this for more than just me,” Nikki Hiltz said.

I went from that dark place to resurrecting my love for the sport.” And with the help of Lululemon, they can continue their campaign. The deal with Lululemon is not just performance-driven. The brand helps in collaborations on various advocacy initiatives, one of which is the Pride 5K race.

This initiative was the brainchild of Hiltz, the proceeds of which will all go to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth. With Lululemon, the former Razorback athlete can work on making running more inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community. Apart from that, Hiltz frequently endorses Article One’s trendy eyewear on their social media grid.

The partnership started in March 2023, when Hiltz became their first brand ambassador. The collaboration stands on supporting LGBTQIA2S+ youth. Article One initiatives like donating 100% of the sales money from the Avalon sunglasses to a nonprofit organization called Stand with Trans, who are dedicated to assisting transgender youth.

Why did Nikki Hiltz choose Article One? “Historically, we’ve seen brand partnerships focus on what athletes can do for the brand and how they can merge into traditional sports marketing imagery, which creates a transactional relationship rather than a values-based one.” And that’s exactly what Article One is not: “I’m grateful to partner with a team of individuals willing to buck that status quo, asking more about how it can advance inclusion and align with my advocacy efforts. It’s a bonus that I’m a huge fan of Article One’s frames and aesthetic.”

And Article One founder, Wes Stoody, is proud to have Hiltz join their side: “Right now the state of LGBTQIA2S+ rights is incredibly distressing, which is all the more reason why brave advocates like Nikki need support.” Continuing, the founder stated, “We welcome them not as an ambassador but as a valued teammate with influence in our design room and donation-based campaigns. We’re honored to join Nikki in their truth, authenticity, and pursuit to create a more inclusive, safer, and joyous world for youth who identify as LGBTQ.”
