What happens when you’re asked about the name of the very sport you’re a champion of? US Women’s National Soccer Team star Alex Morgan once faced something similar. The superstar striker and San Diego Wave FC captain has been a professional soccer player since 2011.

However, Morgan once got caught in a sticky situation. In an interview with popular talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, the champion player had to answer a question that plagued the world… ‘is it called soccer or football’?

In a hilarious segment on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, called ‘3 Ridiculous Questions’, World Cup champion Alex Morgan sipped on drinks and began the show. The first question aimed to answer the most common question about the sport that has plagued everyone at some point in time: “Is it soccer or football?”. Without any hesitation, Morgan replied that she gets that question every day. And mockingly expressed: “I don’t know what I play”.

The answer got funnier when Kimmel tried helping her. The talk show host asked her what she wrote on her taxes to which she replied “Professional athlete”.

Other ridiculous questions included whether she would trust a person named ‘Spence’, and what fruit she hated from a fruit cup. The icon played along, answering these questions in a sarcastic and witty manner. The deadpan humor combined with Morgan’s witty answers left the audience in stitches.

Morgan is one of the most recognized soccer players in the world. She scored her first World Cup goal against France and was the youngest player in the national team in 2011.
