Alex Morgan became an icon, when she entered the US Nationals team, at an early stage in her life. She was immensely talented and was the youngest player on the USWNT roster in 2011. Owing to this, she faced some apprehensions from the older members of the team. The USWNT great, Abby Wambach, recalled the time, when Alex joined the team.

Wambach mentioned how the older members of the National team felt threatened by Alex’s talent. Making it to the nationals at a young age required some serious skill sets that the champion seemed to possess. This made others players somewhat threatened. Wambach mentioned, how the members would resort to critiquing Alex’s play.

According to the USWNT great, this stemmed from their insecurity. Morgan’s talent at a young age, let alone being able to make it to the national team was a commendable feat.

How did Morgan respond to the threatened members?

Morgan joined Wambach in her conversation, who expressed gratitude towards the USWNT great. She appreciated how Wambach was selfless and uplifting at a time when she needed it the most. The star continued, “Being threatened is kind of something that, you can’t help it.” While she understood the apprehension’s cause, she was glad to have someone like Wambach, who had her back.
